FAQs
What time are STEM lessons offered?
Our STEMed faculty and faculty affiliates teach USM students all times of the day and evening. We know teachers across the country and the world have been working tirelessly to meet their students needs. We have transitioned our program to an all-virtual, video-based, on demand program so that you can accommodate your students’ schedule. We are no longer able to offer live lessons due to time constraints and faculty resources.
How do I get the STEM learning kits?
After you have requested a lesson, there will be a list of materials for that lesson. Please allow time to gather supplies, download the class material you need, etc. for the classroom activity prior to teaching your lesson.
Can I bundle lessons?
Yes! If you see multiple lessons that work for you, we are happy to provide access to each of them. We want to partner with you to meet your curricular needs as best we can.
Are the STEM lessons standards based?
Yes! Our faculty members are all teacher educators, in mathematics and science. They work hard in their own classrooms to meet and exceed our state and national standards. We will do our best to offer the same via Zoom in your classroom. We have grouped lessons into three ranges - K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. Below each lesson title we have provided the MS CCRS code addressed to assist with your planning.
Will you be offering more STEM topics?
Yes! We are working quickly to populate our menu of offerings and this will continue to grow. So check back often if you don’t see something that works for you. And if there’s a topic you would really like us to help with, shoot us an email and we’ll try to find STEM help here at USM.
Are there pre-reqs for your lessons?
For each lesson we have provided the teaching standards addressed. If you think you students are not quite prepared for that content, we will work with you to include some background information at the beginning of your lesson.
