Students learn to identify reproductive structures within the flowers and how self-pollination differs from cross-pollination. We learn why it’s mutually beneficial to plants and animal pollinators to work together and how they accomplish pollination from one plant to the next. #biology of insect pollinators, #botany of flowering plants, #ecosystem of seed dispersal. Students will build a simple model bee and engage in a fun, hands-on pollination experiment of their own that introduces them to the process of pollen transfer and cross pollination.
