In this lesson, 10th-grade students will explore biodiversity through canopy cover measurements and environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis. They will engage in hands-on activities to assess the ecological health of a site near their school, thereby gaining insight into how genetic variation and environmental factors contribute to species' survival and reproduction, as well as the importance of biodiversity and the impact of human activity on ecosystems.
