Inequalities
Welcome! We hope you find everything you need here to have a great STEM Lesson! Please let us know if you have any questions.
STEMonDemand@usm.edu
This lesson guides students through solving and graphing linear inequalities, starting with one variable and progressing to two-variable inequalities. Using Desmos, interactive matching games, and real-life scenario role-plays, students will explore the meaning of inequality symbols, practice graphing solution sets on number lines and coordinate planes and apply their understanding to real-world situations. By the end of the lesson, students will confidently solve and graph linear inequalities.
Approximate Time: 60 minutes
Grade Level: 8th Grade, 9th Grade (Algebra 1)
Standards: MS CCRS: A.REI.3, A.REI.10, A.REI.12
A.REI.3: Solve linear equations and inequalities in one variable, including those with coefficients represented by letters.
A.REI.10: Understand that the graph of an equation in two variables represents all its solutions.
A.REI.12: Graph the solutions to a linear inequality in two variables as a half-plane, and graph solution sets for systems as intersections.
